Rafael Vieira has spent more than 20 years building and running racquets programs at some of the most exclusive private clubs in the country. He joined Old Oaks in the spring of 2026 and oversees the club’s year-round tennis, pickleball and platform tennis operations, including its promising junior tennis academy.

Rafael began his career at The Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, where he rose to Head Tennis Professional, and later held the same role at Greenwich Country Club. In 2009, Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck, New Jersey, hired him to open its tennis facility. He built that program from scratch and grew participation 300 percent in its first year. He also ran the Michael Milken Celebrity Pro-Am for the Prostate Cancer Foundation, with Jimmy Connors and the Bryan Brothers in the field. As Director of Racquets at Bay Head Yacht Club, he led a staff of seven professionals, renovated ten courts and raised participation 40 percent. Most recently, he taught at the Field Club of Greenwich.

At Old Oaks, Rafael’s goal is a first-class professional staff, stronger instruction in every racquet sport, more programming and a lively, welcoming atmosphere for members at every level.

Rafael holds Elite Professional certification from the RSPA, along with PTR and PPR certifications. He earned a degree in International Business and Computer Information Systems from Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he captained the varsity tennis team and was an NCCAA Doubles All-American. He speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish. He lives in Greenwich with his wife, Lavinia, their daughters, Alicia and Zoe, and their Labrador, Coral.

Josh Goodger
Head Tennis Professional

Josh Goodger is the Head Tennis Professional at Old Oaks Country Club. He is a former ATP-ranked professional and an NCAA national champion at the University of Florida, and he brings both elite tournament experience and years of club coaching to the role.

At Florida, Josh compiled a 103–42 record in NCAA Division I play. He reached career-high national rankings of No. 55 in singles and No. 55 in doubles. As a professional, he won ITF World Tennis Tour titles in singles and doubles and reached career-high ATP rankings of No. 821 in singles and No. 732 in doubles.

Josh joined Old Oaks as an assistant professional in the summer of 2022 and was named Head Tennis Professional in 2026. He coaches players of every age and level, from juniors just starting out to competitive juniors and advanced adults. He also assists the Director of Racquets with the club’s tennis programming and day-to-day operations.

Stephanie Fernandez
Assistant Tennis Professional

Stephanie Fernandez joined Old Oaks Country Club as an Assistant Tennis Professional in the fall of 2026. She grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, where she ranked among the country’s top 10 juniors, represented Venezuela internationally for four years and reached No. 20 in the South American COSAT rankings.

At Georgia Gwinnett College, Stephanie won three straight NAIA team national championships from 2022 to 2024. She reached No. 1 nationally in doubles and the top 10 in singles, and she captained the team as a senior. She was named ITA Senior Player of the Year, earned All-American honors from both the ITA and NAIA, and competed in $25K professional events.

Stephanie spent two seasons on the tennis staff at The Meadow Club of Southampton, one of the oldest and most prestigious private clubs in the country, known for its grass courts. There she taught private lessons, ran junior and adult programs, helped with daily tennis operations and supported the club’s tournaments. She has also coached members at private clubs in the Greenwich area and trained high-performance juniors at Sportime in New York.

On court, Stephanie is outgoing and playful, and she has a gift for putting her students at ease, especially children. Kids leave her lessons smiling and asking when they can come back.

David Papis
Tennis and Platform Tennis Professional

Old Oaks is thrilled to have David Papis join its racquets staff for the indoor season. David brings an international playing background and more than a decade of coaching experience. He was ranked No. 1 in Israel in the 18-and-under division and No. 23 in Europe at 16-and-under. He played Division I tennis at the University of Utah, then won three straight Skyline Conference Player of the Year awards at Yeshiva University and finished with a 37–2 singles record.

David is currently Director of Racquets at The Bailiwick Club. He has traveled as a coach for a WTA player, served as head tennis coach at Greenwich Country Day School, and held leadership roles at The Field Club of Greenwich and the Ivan Lendl Training Center at Grand Slam. He teaches players of all ages and levels, and members can expect energetic, personalized lessons on both the tennis and platform tennis courts.
